The role of energy efficiency for energy security: a business bridge advancing transatlantic discussion ahead of COP31

October has become a defining month for energy efficiency leadership. Following U.S. Energy Efficiency Day and the American Alliance to Save Energy’s Energy Efficiency Policy Summit on October 7, and European Energy Efficiency Day on October 15, this joint transatlantic discussion will bring together business leaders, policymakers, and international organizations to reflect on the month’s key discussions and explore the road ahead.

As countries, businesses, and institutions recognize Energy Efficiency Month and prepare for COP31, energy efficiency continues to demonstrate its value as one of the most practical, cost-effective, and technology-neutral strategies for strengthening energy security, improving affordability, supporting economic competitiveness, increasing system reliability, and meeting growing energy demand.

This conversation will examine how business leadership, public-private collaboration, and international partnerships can help advance energy efficiency across sectors and markets while identifying priorities for the global energy agenda ahead of COP31. Participants will hear perspectives from leaders on both sides of the Atlantic, discuss lessons emerging from October’s events, and explore opportunities to strengthen collaboration beyond COP.
