Energy efficiency has become a cornerstone of European competitiveness, security, and electrification to decarbonise. Europe is a net importer of energy and cannot reach any of these goals realistically without becoming more efficient. However, translating this systemic transformation into an engaging, forward-looking public narrative remains a challenge.

This workshop addresses the gap between institutional policy design and citizen reality. How do we talk about building renovation, heat pumps, insulation, and monthly energy bills without getting lost in institutional jargon?

Rather than a conventional, one-directional panel, this workshop brings together seasoned policy makers, behavioural scientists, grassroots innovators, and the EU Young Energy Ambassadors in an open, intergenerational co-creation format. Together, participants will unpack where policy messaging has succeeded, where it has fallen short, and how to co-create an energy efficiency narrative that resonates across generations for Europe’s 2040 horizon.
